So what is sedation dentistry?
After reviewing your health history and discussing concerns that you might have, we’ll go over the types of sedation that may be most appropriate for your needs. Only licensed sedation dentists can provide the following different types of services in their offices:
Nitrous oxide (laughing gas)
Inhaled sedation that takes just a few minutes to take effect and wears off just as quickly. You can even drive yourself home. Laughing gas is perfect for all ages and helps to create a lighthearted sensation where you aren’t as sensitive to uncomfortable stimuli.
Conscious Oral Sedation:
A prescription strength sedative (liquid or pill) is given here at our office. Slowly, you begin to feel as if you’ve fallen into a light sleep. While the dreamlike sensation can leave you completely unaware of what is going on, you’ll actually remain semi-conscious. Please bring a friend to drive you home afterward.
Intravenous (IV) Sedation:
IV sedation is the deepest form of safe sedation that we provide. The medication is administered through an intravenous line for fast and effective results. You likely won’t remember a single thing about the procedure. It’s a great choice for more complex treatments!
